ICOM UK launch IDAS!
Icom UK has released a new Digital Private Mobile Radio (DPMR) system throughout Great Britain and Ireland called IDAS (Icom Digital Advanced System). IDAS is a digital system for business and industry, which uses digital modulation and common air interface protocol utilising 6.25kH channel spacing which can allow twice the amount of users on the radio spectrum.
Main features include:
- Digital Analogue mix mode operation allowing smooth and cost effective migration to digital
- Double channel capacity utilising 6.25kH channel spacing

New enhanced Professional Series ATEX radios – Available Now!
We are pleased to announce the release of the new Motorola professional series ATEX product range. These new models offer several enhancements over the previous versions, including:
- Higher Dust Rating allowing them to be used in areas where a potentially explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of flammable air-borne dust can occasionally form.
- Distinctive Blue Colour, making identification in mixed fleets easier and providing a simple way to check that only ATEX models are being brought into potentially explosive areas.
- ATEX certification with or without carry-case giving the user greater choice in how to carry and use the radio.

TRADE-IN, TRADE-UP
Trade in allowance against MOTOTRBO Digital Two Way Radios & Professional Series Radios
You will be entitled to a trade in allowance (up to £35) for each radio returned meeting the following criteria. A credit will be raised upon us receiving the goods.
- Only one radio can be traded in against one new Motorola Mototrbo radio
- PMR446, amateur or other non licensed are not eligible
- Each radio must be returned with its associated battery and antenna attached
- The radio when switched on must show signs of life by either audio or visible indication (Radios that are dead or heavily cannibalised will not be accepted)
- The return consignment must reach us within 14 days of delivery of new equipment
Motorola buys out 80% stake in Vertex Standard
Motorola have purhcased a majority share in Vertex Standard as of June 2008. Direct Telecom Services are one of a select few Authorised Motorola Dealers across the UK, this in turn allows Direct Telecom customers to take advantage of preferential prices on all Vertex Standard products. The range of Vertex radios is set to remain the same for the forseeable future and all associated accessories are set to remain.
